the banks of the River Derwent, lying on the
threshold of the Peak District. With a population
of around 249,000, it is a compact, friendly city
with plenty of amenities and much development
in progress. Since 2005, £4.3bn has been
invested in Derby, with a further £2.2bn in the
pipeline over the next five years.
